Silence

by Rosemea MacPherson

I like the sound of silence..
no music... no talk, just silence
The stillness lets me travel away
to see the sea..
to fell the breeze, to dream again
about places that I’ve seen..
or about places that I never been.

I like the silence, but not nature’s silence
I like to hear the wind blow,
the birds sing, my dog drinking
the beauty that the silence can bring
is like a drink to my thirsty soul
and it is like the music of a bell ringing!

I’ve learned to like silence from people
People that I loved long ago..
Or people that I have just loved
I wanted a small noise
from them... but now it is
such a relief to achieve the oneness
of being in peace and accept just small silences as this
Without wondering when they will show next..
what conflict will arise then,
I just blow those off with my fan.

I do not like ambiguity,
Bifurcated feelings,
car noise, non-harmonic feelings
electric guitar, loud people,
sirens, snow blowers,
concrete breakers.
people that trample on me
without the dignity
of saying I am sorry!
Arguments..I would rather
never have to talk again
than to fight again..
That is I retreat inside myself,
I dream about the silent moments of my day..
that in many instances seems so far away.
